Flint Neill
Flint & Neill is a consulting civil and structural engineering firm based in the United Kingdom, specializing in bridge design, analysis, construction, and maintenance, as well as structural engineering for other buildings. Established in 1958 by Tony Flint and Tony Neill, the firm became a subsidiary of the Danish COWI Group in December 2008 and rebranded as COWI UK Limited in January 2017 after merging with Donaldson Associates.
The company has undergone several leadership changes over the years, with notable directors including A.R. Flint, J.A. Neill, B.W. Smith, and D.K. MacKenzie. Flint & Neill has been involved in numerous high-profile projects globally, such as the Severn Bridge Strengthening, the Royal Ballet School’s Bridge of Aspiration, the West Gate Bridge Strengthening in Melbourne, Australia, and the Baha'I Lotus Temple in New Delhi, India.
The firm has received several awards for its work. In 2017, COWI UK Limited won the Award for Vehicle Bridges for the Destructor Bridge in Bath. In 2015, Flint & Neill received two awards from The Institution of Structural Engineers, including one for the Schuman Bridge and another for the Greenwich Reach Swing Bridge. They also won The Temporary Works Award for their work on the QEII Bridge Joint Replacement Project. Other notable recognitions include the ICE Wales Cymru Project Award in 2014 for the M48 Wye Bridge project and the Supreme Award from The Institution of Structural Engineers in 2012 for the West Gate Bridge Strengthening, which also earned additional awards in both the UK and Australia.
