Nomi Nadelmann
Noëmi Nadelmann, a Swiss soprano born on March 6, 1962, in Zürich, comes from an artistic family. Her mother, Rachel, was an actress, and her father, Leo, a pianist and composer. She studied singing at the Zürich Conservatory and Indiana University Bloomington, making her debut in 1987 as Musetta in La bohème at Venice's La Fenice. Her career includes engagements with the Vienna Volksoper, Swiss cities, and Munich's Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz from 1990 to 1994. She later performed freelance at prestigious venues like Berlin's Komische Oper, Paris's Opéra Bastille, New York's Metropolitan Opera, and Chicago's Lyric Opera.
Nadelmann appeared in Andrzej Żuławski's 1991 film La Note bleue as Pauline Viardot and sang Violetta in Götz Friedrich's televised La traviata. She received the Critics' Prize in Berlin and the Wolfgang-Amadeus-Mozart-Preis in 1996. In 2010, she competed on Swiss TV with her choir group, continuing to perform concerts thereafter.
In January 2014, Nadelmann moved to Australia after reuniting with Lyndon Terracini, whom she married in 2019. Her discography includes albums released between 1999 and 2010, featuring works by Gershwin, Porter, Schreker, Zarzuela arias, and Swiss song cycles.
