Pathardih

Pathardih is a neighborhood in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, located at 23.67°N 86.43°E with an average elevation of 143 meters. It became part of the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation in 2006 and is within Ward No. 50. The region features undulating uplands with coalmines and is bordered by the Damodar River to the south, primarily urban as part of DMC. The western area falls under Dhanbad CD block (57% rural), while the east-central part is Baliapur CD block (86% rural). Operational mining areas include Pootkee Balihari and Lodna.

Pathardih Police Station serves Jharia CD Block. As per the 2001 census, Pathardih had a population of 39,527, with males at 55% and females at 45%. The literacy rate is 66%, exceeding the national average, with male literacy at 76% and female at 54%; 13% are under six years old.

The economy revolves around coal mining, with Eastern Jharia Area's collieries holding 508.493 million tonnes in reserves. Historical mining caused fire and subsidence issues, now mitigated. Mining has occurred for over a century, facing challenging conditions with untapped coal seams remaining.

Healthcare facilities include Jealgora Regional Hospital (100 beds), smaller units at Bhowrah and Sudamdih, and an Ayurvedic dispensary by BCCL in Pathardih.
