Rory Burns

Rory Joseph Burns is an English professional cricketer who plays as a left-handed opening batsman for Surrey and England. Born on November 16, 1990, in Epsom, Surrey, he began his cricketing career with Surrey CCC and made his debut in the County Championship in 2011. Known for his consistency and ability to score runs in challenging conditions, Burns has established himself as a key player for both Surrey and England.

Burns grew up playing alongside Surrey teammate Jason Roy, whom he considers one of his closest friends. He missed England’s tour of Sri Lanka in early 2021 due to the birth of his daughter but returned to the team later that year. In international cricket, Burns has shown resilience despite facing criticism and setbacks, including a poor Ashes series in 2021–22 where he struggled to score runs.

Domestically, Burns has been instrumental in Surrey’s success, leading them to County Championship titles in 2018, 2022, and 2023. His performances have earned him the nickname "Bully" among his peers and fans, reflecting his tenacity on the field.
