Scott Freestone

Scott Freestone is a former Australian professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. He represented Cronulla-Sutherland and Gold Coast in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) and Australian Rugby League (ARL) competitions. Freestone made his first-grade debut for Cronulla-Sutherland in Round 10 of 1987, scoring a try against South Sydney at Endeavour Field. Despite Cronulla winning the minor premiership in 1988, Freestone only made one appearance that season. He again played just one game in 1989 before being released by the club. In 1991, Freestone joined Gold Coast, then known as the "Seagulls," and scored a try on debut against his former club Cronulla at Seagulls Stadium. However, his time with Gold Coast was challenging, as the team finished last in 1991, 1992, and 1993, narrowly avoiding the wooden spoon in 1994. His final game for Gold Coast was in Round 22 of 1995 against North Sydney, ending in a 14-14 draw. Off the field, Freestone faced legal issues. In 2007, he was fined $1,800 and ordered to pay damages after an altercation with two men during a surfing contest, where one man was king hit. The incident reportedly started when his son was deliberately run into by another board rider. Freestone allegedly said, "You want to pull the cat's tail?
