Space Invaders Get Even

"Space Invaders Get Even" is a video game developed by Taito for the Wii, released as a downloadable WiiWare title instead of a retail release. It was launched in Japan on August 26, 2008, followed by Europe and Australia on November 7, 2008, and North America on December 1, 2008. Outside Japan, the game is published by Square Enix.

The game costs 500 Nintendo Points to download initially, but only one stage (with two levels and a boss battle) is available at first. Additional stages can be purchased as three downloadable content packs, each priced at 500 Points, bringing the total cost for the complete game to 2000 Nintendo Points.

The gameplay shifts from the original Space Invaders formula by allowing players to control the space invaders themselves in a 3D environment. Players pilot a UFO across various landscapes, including cities and forests, directing up to 100 invaders to attack Earth's defenses. The Wii Remote pointer controls the swarm, and shaking the remote replenishes lost invaders. Each stage ends with a boss battle, culminating in a final confrontation against a modified original UFO.

The game features online leaderboards and optional ship upgrades from other Taito series by purchasing extra content. Reviews generally praised its addictive and balanced gameplay but criticized the cost of additional stages and memory requirements. IGN gave it a lower score, questioning the total expenditure for the full experience.
