T Rajendar

Vijay Thesingu Rajendar, known as T.R., is a multi-talented Indian artist and politician from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, active primarily in the Tamil film industry. He works as an actor, director, producer, musician, cinematographer, distributor, and politician. Renowned for his spontaneous rhyming abilities and rapping skills, he began his career making successful films that showcased his diverse talents, including acting, singing, and scriptwriting. His 1980s films were blockbusters, with appreciated songs and a reputation for introducing new talent.

However, his popularity waned as his films became predictable, featuring repetitive storylines and dialogue. Despite this, he remains active in the industry, producing films like *Oru Thalai Kadhal* since 2008, and distributing movies under his banner "Simbu cine arts." He also launched 'Kural TV,' a web channel focusing on issues faced by Tamils, especially women, in Sri Lanka.

Politically, T.R. founded the Thayaga Marumalarchi Kazhagam (TMK) after leaving the DMK party in 1991. His political career included mergers and alliances with various parties, including AIADMK, and holding positions like vice-chairman of the Small Savings Scheme. Recently, he has engaged in political discussions via Skype.

He is married to Usha Rajendar, with whom he has two sons, Silambarasan and Kuralarasan, and a daughter, Ilakiya. His wife produced some of his films, including *Kadhal Azhivathillai*, starring Silambarasan. T.R.'s contributions extend beyond cinema to television shows like *Super Kudumbam* and *Arattai Arangam*.
