Waterloo railway station, located in Merseyside, England, opened on 29 September 1840 as part of the Liverpool and Southwark Railway. Originally named Waterloo Bridge Station, it was renamed Waterloo Junction in 1856 and finally became simply Waterloo in 1873. The station has undergone several relocations and upgrades over its history. It was moved to a new site in 1902 and again reconstructed in 1998.

The station is part of the Southport, Ormskirk, and Liverpool line, operated by Northern Rail. Services run northbound to Southport and southbound to Hunts Cross via Liverpool Central, with trains departing every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on Sundays.

Waterloo railway station has a modern facility equipped with ticket machines, waiting areas, and facilities for passengers with disabilities. It also features CCTV surveillance and parking options.
