Eduardo Bayo is a professor at the University of Navarra's Department of Structural Design and Analysis. He earned a degree in civil engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid in 1976 and later received a master's and PhD in structural mechanics from UC Berkeley in 1980 and 1983, respectively. After working as a structural engineer at Gibbs & Hill, he joined INITEC, where he led research on structural analysis.

Bayo began his academic career as an assistant professor at UCSB in 1986, focusing on flexible multi-body systems and inverse dynamics, which influenced fields like robotics and control theory. He became a Full Professor in 1994. Since 1995, he has been at the University of Navarra, leading research on steel and composite structures and contributing to finite element technology.

He is a member of several professional committees, including ECCS and AEN/CTN140/SC3, and serves as a technical reviewer for journals like *Journal of Engineering Structures*. Bayo has consulted for engineering firms and developed new analytical methods. He resides in Navarra with his family.
