Richard T. Scott, born in 1980, is an American history painter and writer based in Hudson Valley, New York. His work is held in permanent collections at museums across North America and Europe. From 2014 to 2018, he was part of the Artistic Infusion Program, designing coins and medals for the United States Mint.

Scott earned a BFA in painting from the University of Georgia and an MFA from the New York Academy of Art. After graduating, he worked under Jeff Koons for two years and then as Odd Nerdrum's studio assistant in Norway and Paris for three years.

His art explores themes of systemic discrimination, social issues, and gun violence in American culture through classically influenced history paintings and narrative portraits. Notable works include "When the Man Comes Around," held at the Georgia Museum of Art, "Hearts of Men" (2016), and "New Amsterdam" (2018). Donald Kuspit describes him as a New Old Master, blending traditional styles with contemporary themes.

Scott contributed to *The Nerdrum School* and advocates for a Post-contemporary paradigm in figurative painting. He designed the 2016 Fort Moultrie quarter and was the first to create an African American Liberty for a U.S. Mint coin in 2015. In 2010, he highlighted Facebook's censorship of classical nudes.

His work is featured in collections at institutions such as the New Britain Museum of American Art, Georgia Museum of Art, and Museu Europeu d'Art Modern.
