Dont Cry Lil Wayne song
"Don't Cry" is a song by American rapper Lil Wayne featuring XXXTentacion, released as the second single from Lil Wayne's twelfth album, *Tha Carter V*. The track incorporates vocals recorded by XXXTentacion before his death on June 18, 2018. It debuted and peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the second-highest charting song in both artists' discographies.
The collaboration came about after Young Money Entertainment's president, Mack Maine, acquired the rights to use XXXTentacion's verse while sequencing the album. At the time of the collaboration, Lil Wayne was unaware of who XXXTentacion was. The song was first performed live by Lil Wayne on *The Late Show with Stephen Colbert* on December 12, 2018. A music video for "Don't Cry" was released on January 23, 2019, which would have been XXXTentacion's 21st birthday. It was later taken down and reuploaded on October 2, 2024.
The song was recorded at YM Studios, mixed at Just Us Studios in Los Angeles, and mastered at SING Mastering in Atlanta. The track is published by multiple entities, including Young Money Publishing Inc/Warner Chappell Publishing, Bad Vibes Forever Inc., and others. Personnel involved include Lil Wayne and XXXTentacion as vocalists and songwriters, with production by Ben Billions and Z3N. Additional songwriting credits go to Gamal Lewis, while Fabian Marasciullo handled mixing, Colin Leonard mastered the track, and Manny Galvez oversaw recording.
