Enseigne Henry was one of seven Spahi-class destroyers built for the French Navy in the first decade of the 20th century. She was assigned to the 2nd Destroyer Flotilla (2e escadrille de torpilleurs) of the 1st Naval Army (1ère Armée Navale) During the Battle of Antivari, Montenegro, on 16 August 1914, the French destroyers played no role in sinking the Austro-Hungarian protected cruiser SMS Zenta. During the evacuation of Danilo, Crown Prince of Montenegro to the Greek island of Corfu, the fleet escorted multiple small convoys loaded with supplies and equipment to Antivari. The 2nd destroyer flotilla bombarded Stončica Lighthouse on 19 September and bombarded Antivari in futile attempts to lure the larger ships of the Austrian naval fleet into battle. The 1st and 6th destroyer Flotillas escorted the armored cruisers of the 2 second Light Squadron and two British cruisers during the evacuation. The ships were sunk by the Austo-Hungarians in October 1914, although the 4th Flotiller was sent on an unsuccessful pursuit of Ulan.
