Henry Evans rugby union
Henry Evans (14 December 1859 – 9 April 1925) was a Scotland international rugby union player who began his career as an amateur with Edinburgh University. In 1885, he played for East of Scotland District against West of Scotland District in January and later for Edinburgh District against Glasgow District in December. He represented Scotland in two matches against Ireland that same year.
Evans also pursued a medical career, becoming a doctor. He testified at an inquest regarding the suicide of Mrs. Mills in 1901, where he described her as depressed with nervous indigestion but not seriously ill. She was found deceased from self-inflicted neck wounds using a razor. In 1913, he examined the Countess of Cottenham, who died from a gunshot wound believed to have been accidentally inflicted while handling a gun. His examination indicated the gun was fired close to her body.
Born in Clifton, Gloucestershire, Evans married Maud Trimmer in 1885, and they had three children: Violet Muriel, Norman Duthie, and Aileen Marion Evans.
