"In the Shadow of the Moon" is a 2019 American science fiction thriller directed by Jim Mickle and written by Gregory Weidman and Geoff Tock. The film stars Boyd Holbrook, Cleopatra Coleman, and Michael C. Hall. It premiered at Fantastic Fest on September 21, 2019, and was released on Netflix on September 27, 2019.

The story begins in Philadelphia in 1988 with a series of mysterious deaths caused by massive brain hemorrhages. Police officers Thomas Lockhart and Maddox investigate, eventually encountering a suspect who later dies in a subway accident. Lockhart's wife also dies during childbirth that year.

In 1997, a copycat killing spree occurs, leading Lockhart to become obsessed with the case. He meets physicist Naveen Rao, who introduces him to time travel theories. Lockhart encounters the same suspect again and uncovers a time machine.

By 2006, Lockhart is a private investigator theorizing about a white nationalist militia group's involvement in the killings. In 2015, he is kidnapped by Rao, revealing a mission involving his granddaughter Rya, who uses a remotely triggered injection to erase those responsible for a terrorist attack and prevent a civil war.

The film received mixed reviews, with a 59% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 48/100 on Metacritic. Principal production took place in Toronto, Canada, from July 2 to August 27, 2018.
