Jesse Minter

Jesse Minter, born on May 9, 1983, in Little Rock, Arkansas, is an American football coach who currently serves as the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers of the NFL. He previously held the same role at the University of Michigan from 2022 to 2023.

Minter played college football as a wide receiver at Mount St. Joseph University from 2002 to 2005. His coaching career began at the University of Notre Dame as a defensive intern before moving to the University of Cincinnati as a graduate assistant. He later worked his way up through various roles, including linebacker coach and defensive coordinator, at Indiana State University, Georgia State University, the Baltimore Ravens, Vanderbilt University, and Michigan.

While at Michigan, Minter was named defensive coordinator in 2022. He also served as interim head coach for Michigan's first game of the 2023 season after Jim Harbaugh's suspension, leading the team to a victory against East Carolina.

Minter was hired by the Los Angeles Chargers as their defensive coordinator in February 2024 under head coach Jim Harbaugh.

He is the son of Rick Minter, a former college football coach and currently a senior defensive analyst for the Los Angeles Chargers. Minter married Rachelle and they have three children: Millie, Monte, and Mac.

Minter's head coaching record includes one win as interim head coach at Michigan in 2023.
