Liga Indonesia Third Division
The Liga Indonesia Third Division, also known as Divisi Tiga Liga Indonesia, was the fifth tier and lowest level of nationwide football competition in Indonesia. It was managed by the Amateur League Board of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI), along with the first and second divisions. This league served as a platform for youth player development, initially restricting participation to players under 21 years old, with only three over-age players allowed per team. By 2008, the competition was limited to players under 20 years old.
The Third Division began in 2005, with PSIR Apex from Rembang winning the inaugural season. Teams competed at the provincial level first, with varying quotas for advancement based on the number of teams in each province. Provincial winners then faced teams from other provinces within their respective zones, which were divided by island groups such as Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara, Papua, and Maluku. The top-performing teams advanced to the national round.
There was no relegation in the Third Division, but top-ranked teams could earn promotion to Division II. The league operated until 2014, when it was dissolved following the establishment of Liga Nusantara. Notable winners during its existence included Perseta Tulungagung (2006), Persem Mojokerto (2007), Persikotas Tasikmalaya (2008), Persewar Waropen (2009–10), MBU Sidoarjo (2010–11), Persiga Trenggalek and Jember United (2012), and Perseba Bangkalan (2013–14).
