The USS Gary (FFG-51) was an Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate named after Cmdr. Donald A. Gary. Constructed in California, it was launched in 1983 and commissioned in 1984. Decommissioned in 2015, it was transferred to Taiwan in 2017, where it was rechristened as the ROCS Feng Jia (PFG-1115). The ship featured advanced capabilities for air, surface, and sub-surface defense, along with computer-controlled engineering systems. It served extensively, including deployments in Japan from 1999 to 2007 and participation in major exercises like RIMPAC. Notable operations included assisting in Operation Praying Mantis, rescuing stranded fishermen, intercepting drug-smuggling vessels during Operation Martillo, and docking in Cambodia in 2007. The ship's service concluded with its transfer to Taiwan in 2018.
