Rosa María Sardà i Támaro (1941–2020) was a prominent Spanish actress born in Barcelona, beginning her career in amateur theater in Horta. Transitioning to professional roles in the 1960s with companies like Dora Santacreu and Carlos Lucena, she starred in notable plays such as "The House of Bernarda Alba." Her television work included hosting "Festa amb Rosa Maria Sardà" (1979) and appearing in "Una vella, coneguda olor" (1975). She made her film debut in "El vicari d'Olot" (1981), earning Goya Awards for Best Supporting Actress in 1993 ("Why Do They Call It Love When They Mean Sex?") and 2001 ("No Shame"). Additionally, she received a Gold Medal from the Spanish Film Academy in 2010 and the Feroz de Honor in 2016. Politically active, she opposed Catalan nationalism and returned her Creu de Sant Jordi in 2017. Married to Josep Maria Mainat with whom she had son Pol Mainat, they divorced around 2002. Diagnosed with lymphoma in 2014, she passed away in 2020 at 78, leaving a legacy of significant contributions to theater, television, and film.
