David Walsh Naughton, born on February 13, 1951, in West Hartford, Connecticut, is an American actor and singer. He is the younger brother of actor James Naughton and comes from an Irish-American family. After earning a soccer scholarship to study drama at the University of Pennsylvania, he trained further at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art before moving to New York to pursue his acting career. Naughton gained prominence through his four-year role in Dr Pepper commercials (1977–1981), where he sang and danced in a Broadway-style format. These ads won multiple Clio awards and featured various celebrities. His popularity from the commercials led to his starring role in the sitcom *Makin' It*, for which he also recorded the theme song, "Makin' It," which peaked at No. 44 on the UK Singles Chart. Despite the show's short run of nine episodes, Naughton continued his successful career in film and television. He starred in the Disney comedy *Midnight Madness* (1980) and later gained critical acclaim for his role in *An American Werewolf in London* (1981), directed by John Landis. The film was noted for its innovative makeup effects, which won Rick Baker an Academy Award. After this success, Naughton appeared in various movies and TV shows, including recurring roles on *My Sister Sam* and guest appearances on series like *MacGyver*, *Melrose Place*, and *Seinfeld*.
