The University of Technology Malaysia (UTM), known as Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in Malay, is a leading public research university ranked 188th globally by QS World University Rankings. Its main campus, located in Skudai, Johor, spans 1148 hectares and is the largest public university in Malaysia, with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) being the second-largest at 1108.103 hectares. UTM operates three campuses, with its main site about 20 km north of Johor Bahru.

The university's research capabilities are overseen by the Research Management Centre, established in 1982 and renamed in 1997. In rankings, UTM is fourth in Southeast Asia according to Webometrics and top in Malaysia. QS University Rankings placed it 100th globally in engineering and technology. UTM aims to become a world-class university among the top 50 by 2020.

Notable alumni include prominent Malaysian figures such as Wee Ka Siong, former Minister of Transport; Annuar Musa, former Minister of Communications and Multimedia; Hamzah Zainudin, former Minister of Home Affairs; Saarani Mohamad, current Menteri Besar of Perak; Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, former Inspector-General of Police and President of Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia; and Dominic Lau Hoe Chai.
