Dualphotography

Dualphotography is a technique that involves taking two simultaneous photographs of the same scene, capturing it from opposing or complementary perspectives. This method can include images of both the subject and photographer or different sides of a location, adding an extra narrative layer to a single image.

The term "dualphotography" combines "dual," derived from Latin *dualis* (meaning two), with "photography." A related term is "bothie," introduced by Nokia in 2017 for photos taken using front and rear smartphone cameras. However, "dualphotography" is more commonly used due to its ease of pronunciation and wider acceptance.

Two primary techniques exist: back-to-back and portal-plane dualphotography. Back-to-back involves two cameras positioned 180 degrees apart, often synchronized using smartphone apps or mechanical setups. Portal-plane uses GPS-enabled, wirelessly connected cameras to create a single scene between two distant locations.

Dualphotography requires equipment with dualcameras, available in modern smartphones with specific software or custom-built hardware for film and digital photography. This technique offers flexibility for capturing supplementary narratives or perspectives in a single image.
