FC Crotone

Crotone is an Italian football club based in Crotone, Calabria, playing in Serie C since the 2016–17 season. Founded on September 20, 1910, as Società sportiva Crotona, it has undergone multiple name changes and financial challenges, including bankruptcies, leading to new club formations. The team's history includes periods in various leagues, with notable promotions and relegations over the decades.

Crotone achieved its first Serie A promotion in 2016 but was relegated back to Serie B after two seasons. In the 2019–20 season, they were promoted again to Serie A but faced a poor campaign, conceding a record number of goals and being mathematically relegated after 34 games despite individual standout performances, notably from striker Simy who scored 20 league goals.

After relegation, Crotone loaned out key players, weakening their attack. This led to another relegation to Serie C in the 2022–23 season. The club's identity reflects its Greek heritage, with dark blue and red colors, mottos like "Salutate la Magna Grecia," and nicknames such as "the Pythagoreans." Rivalries include fierce matches against local teams like LFA Reggio Calabria, Cosenza Calcio, and US Catanzaro 1929.
