Glass Beach band
Glass Beach is an American indie rock band formed in 2015 by J McClendon, Jonas Newhouse, and William White. Originating from Los Angeles but now based in Seattle, the band's music is characterized as heavy indie rock, blending punk rock, math rock, and mid-century jazz influences. Their cited inspirations include Jeff Rosenstock, They Might Be Giants, and the Brave Little Abacus. Layne Smith joined as lead guitarist in 2019 after bonding with McClendon over Dungeons & Dragons. The band has since released singles like "running" and an alternate version of "classic j dies and goes to hell." They covered songs by Car Seat Headrest and My Chemical Romance, contributing to Pride Month in 2021. Their remix album, *Alchemist Rats Beg Bashful (Remixes)*, featuring artists like Bartees Strange, was released the same year. In 2023, Glass Beach launched an alternate reality game leading up to their second album, *Plastic Death*, produced by Will Yip and released in January 2024.
