Hayden Foxe

Hayden Vernon Foxe, born on 23 June 1977, is an Australian former professional soccer player who now works as an assistant coach for the Australia men's national soccer team. He played as a centre-back at the top level in Germany, Japan, Belgium, England, and Australia. Foxe earned 11 international caps for Australia between 1998 and 2003. Starting his career with Blacktown City in Sydney, Foxe moved to Ajax Amsterdam in the Netherlands from 1995–97 before joining Sanfrecce Hiroshima in Japan in 1998–99. He represented Australia at the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics and later played for West Ham United in England during the 2000–01 season, though he struggled there. Foxe joined Portsmouth in 2002, contributing to their 2002–03 First Division title win but was released in 2005 after injury issues. He returned to Australia and played for Perth Glory from 2007 to 2009, missing part of the 2007–08 season due to a knee injury. Foxe later signed with Sydney FC in 2010, helping them win the A-League Premiership and Championship in 2009–10 and serving as vice captain. He retired from professional football at the end of the 2010–11 season. Foxe's international career included youth appearances in the 1993 World Youth Championships and the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship, as well as senior caps with Australia.
