Kevin Toner
Kevin Toner is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Segunda Federación side Orihuela CF. Born on 18 July 1996 in Ashbourne, County Meath, Ireland, he joined Aston Villa's academy from Home Park in 2012. Toner made his senior debut for Aston Villa in April 2016 against Southampton and earned praise for his performance against Watford.
He had loan spells at Kidderminster Harriers (2015), Walsall (2016), Bradford City (2017), and Stevenage (2017). In December 2017, Toner left Aston Villa to join St Patrick's Athletic on a two-year contract. During his time with St Patrick's, he scored six goals in 37 appearances and made his European debut in the UEFA Europa League against IFK Norrköping.
In November 2019, Toner signed for Kilmore Celtic but soon moved to Spain, joining CF La Nucía in September 2020. He featured against Valencia CF in the Copa del Rey in January 2023. In June 2024, he signed with Orihuela CF for the 2024–25 season.
Toner represented the Republic of Ireland at U15, U16, and U19 levels, scoring once for the U19s. He was called up to the U21 squad in August 2016 but did not make an appearance.
From a sporting family, Toner's uncle Mark Dwyer was a jockey, his father Brendan played football, and his mother is a golfer. Meeting Paul McGrath left him starstruck, describing him as a hero in Ireland.
