Latvia national speedway team

The Latvia national speedway team competes in international motorcycle speedway events. Historically, Latvia was part of the Soviet Union's speedway team, which included riders from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Latvians. The Soviet team first competed in the 1961 Speedway World Team Cup and became regular contenders until their final appearance in 1983. They achieved five silver medals (1964, 1966, 1971, 1972, 1975) and three bronze medals (1967, 1969, 1973).

After Latvia's independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, the national team began competing separately. In 1992, they debuted in the World Team Cup, finishing fourth in Group D. They progressively advanced through tiers, reaching Group A by 1997 and achieving their best result at the time with a ninth-place finish in 1998.

In 2001, the competition rebranded as the Speedway World Cup, and Latvia struggled to qualify for the main round until 2013, when they advanced and finished sixth. They repeated this achievement in 2017. In 2021, Latvia reached its first major final at the Speedway of Nations.

Latvia also participates in the European Pairs Speedway Championship, winning two silver medals (2012, 2020) and three bronze medals (2016, 2019, 2021). The team's international participation is now focused on competitions like the Speedway Grand Prix era.
