Scythris
Scythris is a genus of gelechioid moths and the type genus of the flower moth family. It is sometimes classified as a subfamily in the Xyloryctidae or merged into the Oecophoridae. The genus was established by Jacob Hübner in 1825. Scythris is the largest genus of flower moths, though it may not be fully monophyletic due to the inclusion of some small or monotypic genera within the same family. New species continue to be discovered and described.
The species of Scythris have been organized into several groups, which may or may not be monophyletic. Some of these groups are considered subgenera if they are closely related to the type species, *S. limbella*. There are many species whose relationships remain unclear and are placed in their own monospecific groups due to distinct traits. Additionally, there are species that cannot be assigned to any group or classified as autapomorphic enough to form their own category.
