Suhaagan

Suhaagan is a 1986 Indian Hindi-language drama film directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and produced by M. Arjuna Raju under Roja Enterprises. The movie stars Jeetendra, Sridevi, and Padmini Kolhapure with music composed by Bappi Lahiri. It is a remake of the 1982 Tamil film Enkeyo Ketta Kural.

The story is set in a village where Jagath Prasad lives with his wife Shanta and their two daughters, Janki and Jyoti. Janki is extravagant, while Jyoti is simple. Rambabu, a farmer and son of Jagath's friend, loves Janki but recognizes Jyoti's genuine affection. Murli, the Zamindar's son, also admires Janki, leading to her marriage with Rambabu arranged by Jagath. Despite initial reluctance, they marry and have a daughter, Meena. However, Janki disrespects Rambabu and is harsh towards Meena.

Jagath disowns Janki when she elopes with Murli, who later dies by suicide. Janki returns to her village but faces rejection from her family except for Jyoti, who marries Rambabu after the ostracism. Janki becomes ill, reconciles with Rambabu before dying, and he performs her last rites despite objections.

The cast includes Jeetendra as Ram (Rambabu), Sridevi as Janki, Padmini Kolhapure as Jyoti, Raj Babbar as Murli, Pran as Jagat Prasad, Tanuja as Shanta, Kader Khan as Masterji, and others. The soundtrack was composed by Bappi Lahiri with lyrics by Indeevar.
