Texas Archive of the Moving Image

The Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI), established in 2002 by Caroline Frick, PhD, is an independent 501(c)(3) organization based in Austin, dedicated to preserving and promoting Texas film heritage. TAMI operates three main projects: the TAMI Online Collection, the Texas Film Round-Up, and Teach Texas.

TAMI curates online exhibitions like "When Texas Saw Red" and "A Journey to the Moon through Texas," which have received awards. The Texas Film Round-Up, initiated in 2008, partners with the Texas Film Commission to offer free digitization of Texas-related films in exchange for digital copies donated to TAMI's Video Library. It conducts screenings and educational exhibits across various cities.

Teach Texas provides educators with lesson plans and materials aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards, enabling classroom use of TAMI’s resources. The Texas Film Round-Up has received two awards from the American Association for State and Local History in 2010, including the Leadership in History Award of Merit and the WOW Award.

TAMI's initiatives collectively aim to preserve and educate about Texas film heritage through its projects and partnerships.
