Weidmann Cottage

Weidmann Cottage is a heritage-listed property in New South Wales, Australia, located at 24 Bridge Street in Muswellbrook. Built between 1840 and 1845, it originally served as a merchant's townhouse and retail building before becoming unused in recent years. The cottage was designed as one of two symmetrical townhouses, with the adjacent property demolished in the early 20th century. Constructed from sandstone with a verandah, it exemplifies colonial-era architecture typical of middle-class merchants.

The cottage has undergone several modifications, including an extension around 1900–1914 and alterations to the verandah by 1910. It was acquired by Muswellbrook Council in 1977 after a long ownership history that began with H. O. Woodhouse & Danks Pty Ltd in 1884, followed by John Danks and his descendants until Albert Weidmann purchased it in 1891.

Heritage-listed on 2 April 1999, the cottage is significant for its cultural and historical value as a rare example of colonial merchant housing. It contributes to the streetscape of Bridge Street and reflects the social history of Muswellbrook. Its well-proportioned design and use of solid masonry make it an important aesthetic and technical achievement in 19th-century NSW architecture.
