Somerset County Cricket Club, established in August 1875, represents the historic county of Somerset and competes in first-class, List A, and Twenty20 cricket formats since 1882, 1963, and 2003 respectively. Unlike other professional sports teams with a single home ground, Somerset has historically played matches at multiple venues across its county. The County Ground in Taunton is their headquarters and has hosted the most Somerset matches. Other notable grounds include the Recreation Ground in Bath (used for over 300 county matches), Clarence Park in Weston-super-Mare (hosting over 200 matches until 1996), and Morlands Athletic Ground in Glastonbury (used 24 times between 1952 and 1978). Somerset has utilized various grounds, including those in Yeovil, Torquay, and Bristol. After the First World War, they began playing at more locations but reduced to a few main venues by the late 20th century. Since 1979, Somerset primarily played at County Ground, Recreation Ground, and Clarence Park until 2012 when they introduced Taunton Vale as a new venue. As of 2024, their most recent county match outside Taunton was in 2011 against Essex in Bath.
