Seth Brooks Binzer, known as Shifty Shellshock, was an American rapper and musician born on November 8, 1974, in Los Angeles, California. He gained prominence as the founder of the rap group Crazy Town with fellow artist Bret Mazur (DJ AM). The duo achieved significant success with their hit single "Butterfly," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2000. However, their career faced challenges due to personal and professional struggles, leading to their eventual breakup. In his solo career, Binzer released an album titled *Shifty* under the label Flipside Records in 2005. He also collaborated with Paul Oakenfold on the song "Greatest Lovers," which peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 2006. Additionally, he formed a new group, Shifty & the Big Shots, releasing singles like "Save Me" and "City of Angels." Binzer's personal life was marked by struggles with substance abuse, which led to his participation in reality TV shows such as VH1's *Celebrity Rehab* and its spin-off *Sober House*. Despite periods of sobriety, he relapsed multiple times, highlighting the ongoing battle with addiction. His health deteriorated over the years, including a coma in 2012 after an overdose. On June 24, 2024, Binzer died at his home in Los Angeles from an accidental overdose involving cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine. He was 49 years old.
