List of Rangers FC chairmen
Rangers F.C., based in Glasgow, Scotland, has competed in the Scottish Professional Football League since its founding in 1872. The club has had over ten presidents before incorporation and nineteen chairmen to date. Historically, Rangers was privately owned as a limited liability company before becoming publicly traded on the PLUS and AIM stock exchanges. The board of directors oversees corporate operations, with the chairman being the most senior figure. While the chairman typically held executive authority, the appointment of CEOs has led some chairmen to adopt non-executive roles.
From December 2012 to March 2015, Rangers F.C. operated under two boards: the "football board" and the Plc board of its holding company, Rangers International Football Club Plc (RIFC). This structure resulted in the club having two chairmen during this period. However, since Sandy Easdale's departure in 2015, the "football board" terminology was discontinued, leaving the Plc chairman as the definitive Chairman.
Prior to June 2012, when Rangers F.C. was preparing for flotation on the AIM stock exchange and forming RIFC, the chairman of The Rangers Football Club Limited (TRFCL) held de jure authority over the club. The club has undergone structural changes, including operating under different company names such as t/a Rangers F.C. Ltd in 1899 and 2012, and t/a Rangers International F.C. Plc from 2012 onward.
