The Walking Dead Torn Apart
The Walking Dead: Torn Apart is a six-part web series that aired entirely on AMC's official website on October 3, 2011. It serves as the origin story of Hannah, also known as "Bicycle Girl," who appears in the first episode of The Walking Dead TV series. In that episode, Rick Grimes shoots her as an act of mercy, which highlights his character and sets the tone for Season 1.
Hannah is a mother of two who awakens from a car crash to find her children missing. She locates them at her ex-husband Andrew's house, where he had previously killed and hidden his walker wife. In a flashback, Andrew neglects to shoot Mike Palmer's bitten children after being asked to do so while scavenging supplies. Later, during an escape attempt, Andrew is killed by those same undead children.
A helicopter announces that survivors should head to the park's concession stand for evacuation. Hannah and her children try to reach it on foot but are intercepted; Hannah gets bitten. She hands her daughter a pistol, instructs them to seek safety at the concession stand, and is then overwhelmed by walkers. The series ends with Hannah transforming into a walker and dragging herself along the ground.
The cast includes Lilli Birdsell as Hannah, Rick Otto as Andrew, Griffin Cleveland as Billy, Madison Leisle as Jamie, Rex Linn as Mike Palmer, and Danielle Burgio as Judy. Another web series, Cold Storage, was released on October 1, 2012.
