The Apthorp is a historic apartment building in Manhattan, constructed between 1906 and 1908, renowned for its architectural grandeur and courtyard design. Located on Broadway and West End Avenue, it was designated as a New York City landmark in 2010, recognizing its Corinthian pilasters and monumental entrance arch. Originally owned by 390 West End Associates until 2007, it changed hands to Africa Israel Investments, leading to tenant disputes over rent increases. The building faced financial challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic but recovered by 2023. Notable for its celebrity residents across various fields, the Apthorp has also been a popular filming location, enhancing its cultural presence. Its architectural significance and media prominence make it an iconic Upper West Side landmark.
