Ken Owens is a distinguished Welsh rugby union player known for his contributions to both club and country. Born in Carmarthen, he began his rugby journey with local clubs before debuting as a senior player in 2006. His career took him through several clubs, including Bridgend RFC, Neath RFC (where he earned his first Wales cap in 2010), Ospreys, Cardiff Blues, and the Scarlets, with whom he achieved notable successes like promotion to the top flight and a European Challenge Cup victory.

On the international stage, Owens made over 90 appearances for Wales, showcasing his skills and leadership. He was also part of the British & Irish Lions squad in 2017. Notably, he captained Wales during the 2023 Six Nations Championship, becoming the oldest captain in Welsh rugby history.

Owens' playing style is characterized by his reliability in line-out situations and dynamic performances in open play, often contributing with impactful tries. Off the field, he has a personal connection to rugby through his sister Vicky, also a Wales international, and his wife Carys, who works in television production.

After overcoming significant injuries throughout his career, Owens retired around 2023, leaving a legacy of dedication and excellence in the sport. His contributions both on and off the pitch have made him a respected figure in Welsh rugby.
