Mentor Township is a civil township in Cheboygan County, Michigan, with a population of 857 as of the 2020 census. Located in the southwestern part of the county, it borders Emmet County to the west and covers 35.9 square miles, primarily land with minimal water area. Interstate 75 passes through its northeast corner without any exits. The township includes the unincorporated communities of Rondo, Haakwood, and Wildwood, with the Sturgeon River flowing northward through the eastern part.

As of the 2000 census, Mentor Township had a population of 781 people across 317 households and 234 families. The population density was 21.8 inhabitants per square mile, with housing units averaging 12.7 per square mile. The racial composition was predominantly White (96.80%), followed by Native American, African American, and other races. Hispanic or Latino individuals made up 0.77% of the population.

Households were diverse, with 25.2% including children under 18, 63.1% being married couples, and 25.9% non-family households. The average household size was 2.46 people, and the median age was 42 years. The gender ratio showed a slight male majority. The median household income was $32,750, with males earning more than females. Approximately 14.1% of the population lived below the poverty line, including higher rates among those under 18 and over 65.
