Tara Kannada actress
Anuradha, known by her stage name Tara, is an Indian politician and actress primarily active in Kannada cinema. Born on March 4, 1971, she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2009 and currently serves as a nominated member of the Karnataka Legislative Council. Tara began her acting career with the Tamil film *Ingeyum Oru Gangai* in 1984, directed by Manivannan, and made her Kannada debut with *Thulasidala* in 1986. She gained recognition for her performances in films such as *Krama* (1991), *Munjaneya Manju* (1993), *Kanooru Heggadithi* (1999), *Munnudi* (2000), *Mathadana* (2001), *Hasina* (2005), *Cyanide* (2006), and *Ulidavaru Kandanthe* (2014). Her role in *Hasina* earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress. Tara has also received multiple Filmfare and State awards for her acting.
She worked with prominent Kannada actors, including Rajkumar, Vishnuvardhan, Ambareesh, and Ravichandran. In addition to acting, she produced *Hasina*, directed by Girish Kasaravalli, and has expressed interest in directing films. Tara married cinematographer H.C. Venugopal in 2005, with whom she has a son born in 2013. In 2012, she was appointed president of the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy and nominated to the Karnataka Legislative Council.
