GIVU effect
GIVU effect is a Korean non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on fostering a culture of giving and sharing among youth through educational and cultural initiatives. The name GIVU is an acronym for "Great I Valuable U effect," emphasizing the dignity and value of every individual, as highlighted by CEO Kim Hee-beom, who hopes donation culture spreads widely.
The organization was founded in 2013 with its first project being a group hike. It officially registered as an NGO in 2014 and opened Youth Culture Schools in Ansan, Gyeonggi-do, in 2015. GIVU effect conducts various activities, including camping trips for single-parent families, walking competitions, fishing trips, and community projects like share flash mobs and talent donation events.
In 2013, they organized a village painting project. In 2014, they held multiple share flash mobs and community work events focused on talents such as art psychotherapy and storytelling. They also supported victims of the Sewol ferry disaster by making kimchi with affected families. By 2015, they expanded their programs to include cooking schools, traveling schools, and educational workshops.
Ongoing projects include education initiatives like late-night cooking classes and calligraphy sessions, alongside community efforts such as Giver's Day meetings and flash mobs aimed at promoting sharing and volunteerism.
