In 1957, Billboard magazine introduced three R&B charts to track music performance: Best Sellers in Stores, Most Played by Jockeys, and Most Played in Juke Boxes. These charts ranked songs based on retail sales, radio airplay, and jukebox usage, respectively. Fats Domino dominated all three charts with hits like "Blueberry Hill," "Blue Monday," and "I'm Walkin'." He held the top spot for 17 consecutive weeks across all listings. Other notable artists included Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and the Everly Brothers, many of whom were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Coasters' "Searchin'" spent 13 weeks at number one on the Best Sellers chart, while Cooke's "You Send Me" topped both the Best Sellers and Jockeys charts towards the end of the year. Several artists achieved their only R&B number one in 1957, including LaVern Baker, Mickey & Sylvia, and Larry Williams. The Bobbettes' "Mr. Lee" reached the top of the Jockeys chart but failed to chart again on Billboard's R&B listings.
