Rainbow Johnny Cash album
"Rainbow," Johnny Cash's 70th album and his final release with Columbia Records, was released in 1985. The album features a cover of Kris Kristofferson's "Here Comes That Rainbow Again," which had previously appeared on The Highwaymen's collaborative album *The Road Goes on Forever*, sung solo by Kristofferson there. It also includes a rendition of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" and the song "Love Me Like You Used To," later recorded by Tanya Tucker, becoming a hit for her.
"Rainbow" was not initially successful; its single "I'm Leaving Now" failed to chart but was re-recorded for Cash's *American III: Solitary Man*. The album marked Cash's transition after Columbia Records' waning interest, leading him to move to Mercury Records in 1986. He later returned to Columbia for the second Highwaymen album.
The track listing and personnel include Johnny Cash with backing vocals from June Carter Cash, Waylon Jennings, and others, along with contributions from notable session musicians. Produced by Chips Moman, it was recorded and mixed at Nashville studios.
