Ronald Jon Roenicke, known as Ron, had a distinguished career in professional baseball spanning several decades. As a player, he primarily served as a utility infielder for teams including the San Diego Padres, Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins, Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds, and Houston Astros. Although his playing career was relatively brief and without significant individual accolades, Roenicke gained recognition later in his career as a coach and manager.

Roenicke transitioned into coaching after retiring as a player. He began managing in 2011 with the Milwaukee Brewers, leading them to a division title and their first playoff appearance in 29 years. His success earned him second place in the National League Manager of the Year voting that season. However, his tenure with the Brewers ended in 2015 after a poor start to the season.

Following his departure from the Brewers, Roenicke worked as a coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers and later the Los Angeles Angels. In 2020, he was appointed interim manager of the Boston Red Sox, replacing Alex Cora amid the Astros sign-stealing scandal. Despite leading the team through a challenging season, he was not retained for the following year.

In February 2021, Roenicke returned to the Dodgers as a special assistant to the general manager, continuing his involvement in baseball at the front office level. His career reflects adaptability and resilience, moving from player to coach and manager, ultimately contributing to various teams' successes throughout his professional journey.
