Seikibashi Line
The Okayama Electric Tramway Seikibashi Line is a route in Okayama, Japan, running between Yanagawa Station and Seikibashi Station. It features double tracks on public streets and serves the southern part of Okayama City along Yanagawa Suji, which includes parts of national highways 180 and 53. The line was constructed using the rare Side Reservation Method, where tracks are placed between carriageways and pedestrian paths. During road reconstruction, most stations were rebuilt with island platforms, except Seikibashi Station, which was later made barrier-free in 2007 by moving its platform under a pedestrian bridge.
Fares on the line cost 140 yen for the entire route as of 2020, though shorter rides between Okayama and Yūbinkyoku Mae stations are priced at 100 yen to align with competing bus fares. The Seikibashi Line opened in 1928 as the Yanagawa Line and was renamed after its extension to Seikibashi Station in 1946. Several stations were renamed over the years, including Higashi-Tamachi Station becoming Yūbinkyoku-mae Station in 1937.
Since 2019, the tramway has collaborated with Chuggington, operating themed trains named after characters from the show.
