The Sunday Service Choir, led by rapper Kanye West and conducted by Jason White, began in January 2019. The group performed every Sunday and also on September 27, 2019, when West announced the release of his album *Jesus Is King*. Their debut album, *Jesus Is Born*, was released on Christmas Day 2019.

West initially postponed the release of his ninth studio album, *Yandhi*, due to recording sessions in Uganda. He started the first "Sunday Service" rehearsal in January 2019, performing gospel versions of his songs with a choir group and collaborators. After withdrawing from headlining Coachella, West brought Sunday Service to perform at the festival on Easter Day, April 21, 2019.

The group performed at The Gateway in Salt Lake City on October 5, 2019, coinciding with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' General Conference. They collaborated with pastor Joel Osteen at Lakewood Church in Houston on November 17, 2019, despite tickets being sold for high prices. Sunday Service also participated in the Strength to Stand Conference in January 2020 after another performer was canceled.

The group released *Jesus Is Born* on December 25, 2019, and followed it with the Emmanuel EP a year later. In 2024, they featured on Will Smith's comeback single "You Can Make It." The choir also performed in operas such as *Nebuchadnezzar* and *Mary* in 2019.
