Ricky "Tank" Carder Jr., born on January 18, 1989, is a former professional American football player who played as a linebacker in the NFL. He attended Sweeny High School in Texas, where he excelled in both offense and defense during his senior year, accumulating 1,200 yards of offense and 116 tackles, earning him a two-star recruit rating from Rivals.com. Carder pursued his college football career at Texas Christian University (TCU), where he became a four-year letterman. He was honored as the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year in both 2010 and 2011. In the 2011 Rose Bowl, Carder played a pivotal role, being named Defensive MVP after intercepting a pass that prevented overtime and secured TCU's victory with a final score of 21–19. Selected by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round (147th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft, Carder was released before the season. He was subsequently claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns on September 4, 2012. During his time with the Browns, he played in 30 games, starting twice and contributing significantly on special teams. The Browns re-signed him in March 2016, but his career was derailed by a torn ACL in the second preseason game of 2017, ending his season early.
