WLXX
WLXX (101.5 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Richmond, Kentucky, and serves the Lexington metropolitan area. Owned by Cumulus Media, it broadcasts using the nationally syndicated JACK FM service with the slogan "Playing What We Want!" The station's playlist features rock hits from the 1980s, '90s, and early 2000s, along with pop and novelty hits from the last 50 years. Unlike most music stations, WLXX does not employ live DJs; instead, it uses prerecorded voice segments by Howard Cogan to deliver humorous and sarcastic commentary. The station's program director is Anthony "Twitch" Longo. Its studios and offices are located in the Kincaid Towers in downtown Lexington, while its transmitter is situated off Igo Road near Interstate 75 in rural Madison County, south of the Kentucky River.
WLXX began broadcasting on May 12, 1972, as WCBR-FM, initially simulcasting co-owned WCBR 1110 AM. It originally operated at 101.7 MHz but later moved to 101.5 MHz in the mid-1990s, increasing its power. In 1999, Cumulus Media acquired the station, which later adopted a sports radio format as WLRO. The call sign WVLK-FM was assigned on May 23, 2007, and from 2007 to 2014, it simulcast sister station WVLK 590 AM. On October 31, 2014, the station shifted to country music under the Nash Icon network as "101.5 Nash Icon." It changed formats again on February 20, 2018, adopting an adult hits format as "101.5 Jack FM." The call sign was officially changed to WLXX on September 4, 2020.
